In the prestigious Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, B&B Chateau Giscours – a prestigious Bordeaux wine domain.
A Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé, Château Giscours is a 19th-century chateau offering B&B accommodation in the former stables near the Chateau with 3 bedrooms with free WiFi, wine tastings and wine cellar visits and views of the vineyards, air conditioning, and a private bathroom.
Chateau Giscours’s wine (Margaux) is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled tanks and the wine is then aged in small oak barrels (30-40% new) for 18 months. These are richly aromatic wines, powerful on the palate, displaying ripe, black fruit with hints of cedar and new oak.
Margaux produces wines that are some of the region’s most sensual and alluring. The largest commune in the Médoc, it encompasses the communes of Cantenac, Soussans, Arsac and Labaude, in addition to the village of Margaux itself. Its finest examples are paragons of refinement and subtlety which have few parallels in Bordeaux. The 1855 classification of the wines of Bordeaux contained more wines from Margaux than from any other appellation, and its best-known vineyard, Château Margaux, was one of only four wines to be awarded the Premier Cru status.
Chateau Giscours is in the Medoc, less than 20 miles north of Bordeaux
