Gaillac is one of the lesser-known wines of the South West and is notable for its distinctive local grape varieties such as Braucol and Mauzac. The Chateau produces Gaillac wines –  a medium/sweet white Gaillac DouxGaillac reds and a sparkling white Gaillac Brut.  Biodynamic wines are made by using biodynamic methods both in growing the grapes and during their vinification into wine. . Biodynamic .wine production uses organic farming methods  while also employing soil supplements prepared according to the formulas of  Rudolf Steiner,  and following a planting calendar that depends upon astronomical calculations and having respect for the soil  as “a living and receptive organism. – see Gaillac Wines We would recommend the wines of Domaine de Labarthe at Castanet. The Chateau lies 10 km/7 miles  north of Gaillac and 30 km/18 miles west of Albi ( for its Cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec Museum). And only 18km /11 miles away is the rather magical hilltop village of Cordes-sur-Ciel (literally “in the sky”!) – see www.tourisme-occitanie.com
