Domaine Clos de L’Ours – Provence Wine Hotel

Provence Wine Hotel – in deepest Provence, to the north of Brignoles (83 Var, Provence PACA) and the A8 Autoroute (la Provençal) is the Domaine Clos de l’Ours (domaine of the Bear!) vineyard and guest house in the Côtes de Provence wine region. This is away from the bustle of the Riviera coast and is a land of beauty and tranquility!

Clos de l'Ours vineyard and guest houseClos d'Ours wineSurrounded by its own vineyards and with an outdoor pool in season, the guest house offers 7 well-equipped, en suite rooms , some with terrace and views over the vines of the domaine. Le Clos de L’Ours offers a free visit to the wine domain and tasting of wines made on site – mainly rosés and white wine.

The vineyard, at the gateway of Haut-Var, is surrounded by a pine and oak forest, and is planted with 13 acres of vines in Côtes de Provence. The vineyard has operated according to organic principles since 2000. Hand-picked harvests preserve the grapes and contribute to the production of characterful wines which show the terroir.

This authentic vineyard, calm and peaceful, epitomizes Provence’s culture and landscape. Built in a green valley, it faces an ancient line of cypress and vines. In a convivial and relaxing atmosphere, you can enjoy the Provence way of life and you discover a place where the time goes slowly!

wineThe Cotes de Provence wine appellation covers  a large area of Provence between Marseille and Nice – and enjoys the benefit of great levels of sunshine. Mostly dry, fruity rosé wines, some whites and a little red.

Here the different cuvêes have bear-themed names such as “Grizzly” and “Nanook”! Some of the domaine’s wines feature in the  Guide Hachette des vins 2018 for their red “Le Chemin”2015!

The Clos de l’Ours stands close to the village of Cotignac  between the Gorges du Verdon and the Côte d’Azur.

“Michel, Fabianne and Emilie were great hosts, and we felt very welcomed by them into their home. The location of the property is idyllic, set amongst the many vines and you are not overlooked by any other properties. The Clos de L’Ours wine is also phenomenal, and you’ll be desperate to buy some once you’ve tasted it! The air conditioning was fantastic, and very much needed as we experienced temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius!”
