Provence Vineyard Hotel – La Bastide de Marie is a traditional 18th century country house set amidst the Luberon vineyards in Provence. Just 5 minutes from the ancient city of Mènerbes (84 Vaucluse, Provence),a walled village on a hilltop in the Luberon mountains, foothills of the French Alps
La Bastide de Marie is an authentic Provencal hotel in an idyllic setting.
The bastide, ( a fortified house) is also the home to a vineyard – the Domaine de Marie. The vineyard and hotel opened in 2000 and offers an ideal combination on boutique hotel, vineyard and restaurant.
The hotel is surrounded by 15 hectares of vineyards and has a rustic and luxurious feel, the individually decorated rooms have air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
There is also an outdoor swimming pool and guests can enjoy cooking courses, wine tasting and tours of the vineyard.
Here the wines are typically Provencal – e.g. red AOP Luberon made from Grenache and Syrah grapes, often with some Carignan or Mourvedre. Not classic wines but excellent with the hot provencal climate and food.
Mènerbes is about 30 miles southeast of Avignon.
