Chateau de Cheman, Anjou – gite and B&B

Chateau de Cheman

Between Angers and Saumur (in the heart of the UNESCO recognised World Heritage site of the Loire Valley) is a  charming 14th century château with  an exceptional vineyard on the banks of the Aubance River – Chateau de Cheman.
The vineyard extends to 70 hectares and  dates from the 14th Century. It is within walking distance of the River Loire.
The owners Jan & Gerdie Liebreks  welcome guests for romantic weekends and short stays in their enchanting B&B – or for longer stays Chateau offers a self-catering gîte in the courtyard of the Chateau. There is a swimming pool in the garden, a terrace and a library. The rooms are traditionally decorated and some feature a balcony.

The wines here are Anjou wines – red, white and rosé – and include sparkling wines (Crémant de Loire), and they also produce some of the less-widely known local wine Coteaux de l’Aubance – a sweet white wine from Chenin Blanc which can be aged to 15 years or more!

The Chateau is in the village of Blason Gohier (49 Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire) about 30 minutes from Angers and Saumur.
