There is ongoing change in the region’s grape varieties:in particular,, with traditional varieties such as Carignan, Barbaroux (known as Barbarossa in Sardinia) and Calitor being replaced by more commercial grapes such as Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.Yet some traditionally successful local varieties such as Mourvedre, Tibouren and Vermentino (locally known as Rolle) have continued to be popular for Provence red, rosé and white wines.
