La Bourdaisière is a historical monument (14th-16th century)  set in a 140-acre park located an hour from Paris on the TGV (France’s high-speed train). There is also a Tomato Bar (Bar à Tomates) as the chateau is a “National Tomato Conservatory”. The Chateau’s grounds are the setting for a number of festivals throughout the year e.g a Plant Festival and a Tomato Festival.

Located a few kilometres east of Tours, Montlouis-sur-Loire gives its name to white wines that are less well known outside of the Touraine region and are all made from Chenin Blanc grapes. The Montlouis-sur-Loire wine-growing area was originally part of the Vouvray region, but on the left bank of the Loire on somewhat different soils. As with Vouvray wines, some Montlouis wines are semi-sparkling or sparkling or pétillant .
