On the domaine of one of the major producers of quality Chablis (89 Yonne. BFC<\/span><\/em>), Domaine Laroche<\/strong> has converted an 18th Century flour mill into a classy hotel next the to the wine boutique, wine bar, restaurant and wine cellars:Chablis<\/strong> Hotel du Vieux Moulin<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is classic burgundy country with Pinot Noir reds and Chardonnay whites. Wines include Gevrey-Chambertin red, Meursault Premier Cru white and a sparkling Cr\u00e9mant de Bourgogne. Here you can taste the wines of the 4 Laroche estates and visit the cellars (by appointment) and the vineyards. Chablis is exclusively a dry white Burgundy wine made from Chardonnay grapes and renowned for the purity of its aroma and taste. There are levels of quality designated by Appellation from Chablis Grand Cru, Premier Cru, Chablis and Petit Chablis. In comparison with the white wines from the rest of Burgundy (further south), Chablis wine typically  has much less influence of oak. Most basic Chablis is unoaked, and vinified in stainless steel tanks, producing a drier and more minerally character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chablis is a pretty town, with a regular market, annual wine Festival<\/a> and a Flower Market<\/a>. The nearest city is Auxerre<\/strong> (89 Yonne, BFC<\/span><\/em>) about 20 km away for train connections and the A6 autoroute from Paris<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
