Nuits St Georges <\/strong>(21 C\u00f4te d’Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comt\u00e9<\/em>) lies midway between Beaune<\/strong> and Dijon<\/strong> and is famous for its wines. being the capital of the C\u00f4te de Nuits<\/strong> wine appellation. It is situated on the Burgundy wine route – Route des Grands Crus.<\/b><\/em> It is an attractive little town with a pedestrianised main street, and plenty of opportunities to taste and buy wine, or try the local gourmet cuisine. There are some outlets from individual domaines and some negociants, <\/em>who market and sometimes blend wines from different domaines.<\/p>\n\n\n

Most of the vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir grapes, although a few parcels are planted with Chardonnay or Pinot Blanc varieties, yielding a rare and interesting white wine, generally quite firm and opulent.
Red:<\/strong>\u00a0its colour is usually a full, firm, bright ruby, carmine or intense garnet with purplish highlights. The bouquet is partly of black fruits (blackcurrant, bilberry) and partly of red, pitted fruits such as cherries. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nuits St Georges <\/strong>and surrounding C\u00f4te<\/strong> de Nuits<\/strong> Burgundy wine appellations produce predominantly red wine from the Pinot Noir grape – although a small amount (less than 5%) is white from Chardonnay.The reds are considered particularly good with great depth of plummy fruit! – see the official Burgundy wines website<\/a>
