Newly renovated self-catering gîte (house) near Gensac (33 Gironde, Nouvelle Aquitaine) amongst the vines of Chateau de Claribès, British owned by Nick Kinder and his partner Helen – producing organic Bordeaux wines. First available in summer 2010, the former stone vineyard workers cottage has been sympathetically restored to provide a spacious comfortable base for a vacation amongst the vineyards of Bordeaux.

There are woodlands, caves and a stream to explore; quiet places to sit and read a book; private spots for picnicking by the babbling stream or amongst the vines; and a shady flower filled garden from which you can enjoy the views of the valley and vines. Or just curl up with a book on chilly winter evenings in front of the wood burner.

Vineyard House at Chateau de Claribes.

For a more active holiday, your hosts will provide you with walking, cycling and running routes; a list of places to visit and point you in the direction of a fantastic array of restaurants in which to sample local food and wine!

The vineyard house sleeps 4 in two double en-suite bedrooms

Radiators, and a woodburning stove fuelled with logs from the local woods, provide warmth and ambiance for chilly out-of-season evenings, making this a practical house for short or long breaks at any time of the year.

The owners can also provide tours of the vineyard and will happily sell you a bottle (or more)from their extensive range of wines.

Established in the 16th Century, the Chateau’s limestone slopes and proximity to the Dordogne made it ideal for both grape growing and river transport into the port of Bordeaux. But now in the 21st Century an internet based wine business has been established. This allows customers to buy wines, at the Château door price, and have them delivered direct to their home or place of work.Chateau de Claribès
