The Clos Vieux Rochers vineyard sits in the rolling countryside just outside Puisseguin, close to Saint Emilion (33 Gironde, Nouvelle Aquitaine). Here Brits Robert Brimfield and Stephen McMahon have been renovating the property and now offer self-catering gite accommodation where guests can explore the vineyards . Their project has been the subject of a Channel 4 TV (UK) documentary “A New Life in the Sun“. Now up and running as both a working vineyard and holiday accommodation!
Accommodation:
The accommodation comprises of four one bedroom gites that have been developed while renovating the old farmhouse on the vineyard.
The owners have made every effort to blend modern, stylish accommodation with the character of the old building to create a place that is both luxurious and comfortable.
The vineyard produces Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC, from the same limestone plateau as Saint-Emilion. These wines enjoy a privileged location with a southern exposure. This wine is a blend of 80% Merlot 20% Cabernet Franc, aged 18 months in French Oak. “a blend that caresses the soul” – a balance of fruit and oakyness that drinks very well on its own or with foods like, cheese, pasta, veal and chicken.
