In the heart of Provence, the Luberon outcrop, was famously captured by Peter Mayle  with his bouk A Year in Provence (1989).. It is an area of spectacular scenery, vineyards and lavender, Dotted with hill-top villages, markets and nature’s bounty (think Olives, Melons. Truffles, Tomatoes, Rosemary …. all under the provencal sun celebrated by the likes of Cezanne and van Gogh.

Here in the Luberon Village of Cucuron (84 Vaucluse, PACA) is the vineyard B&B at Chateau La Sable. The en-suite acccommodation enjoys air-conditioning and there is a terrace and outdoor pool for guests. The chateaua is in a beautiful setting in the midst of vineyards.

This family-owned Provence chateau produces 2 rosés, 2 whites and a red wine in the AOP Luberon. The rosé wine is made from  Grenache (40%), Syrah (40%), Rolle (10%), Clairette (10%);the red wine is made from Syrah 55%, Grenache 35%, Carignan 10%.Although the domaine has a long history, it is only in recent years that the current owners Virginie et Jean-Marc have been re-planting and updating the facilities in preparation for conversion to organic (bio) status.
