Chateau Maylandie

Chateau Maylandie is in the heart of the Corbières wine region in southern France and offers a Corbières wine lodge (self-catering) at Ferrals-les-Corbières  (11 Aude, Occitanie)

A family-run estate by the Maymil family, the lodge is a stone semi-detached wine-grower’s house that can accommodate up to 4 persons (2 single and 1 double bedrooms) with its own private terrace with external barbecue. In addition there is a swimming pool with a pool house. There is also a grill by the pool (shared)

Ferrals-les-Corbières is a small village on the way to castles of the Cathars (Quéribus, Peyrepertuse). It lies between Narbonne and Carcassonne and is close to the roman monasteries of Fontfroide and  Lagrasse). About half an hour from the Mediterranean Sea.

Chateau Maylandie

The wines of Corbières come from the hot Midi sun and the often harsh dry terrain. As such they used to have a tendency towards being somewhat “rustic”, but in the last 10 years passionate and skilled wine makers often produce rich but elegant wines of great finesse. The red wine here is a blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache. Chateau Maylandie is in the Corbières Cru Boutenac. Some rosé and white wines are also produced.

The area is well worth exploring for its heritage (Carcassonne, Cathar Castles, roman abbeys) its wines and local cuisine. There is a Corbierès wine route (Route 20) which will guide you through the diverse landscapes of the region and many local winemakers!
