Pernand-Vergelesses Burgundy Wine Village

Pernand-Vergelesses
Pernand-Vergelesses

Many prestigious vineyards can be found in Pernand-Vergelesses (21 Côte d’Or, BFC) in the Côte de Beaune, A range of red and white wines are produced from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, including grands crus, premiers crus, and named villages .

The village is surrounded by other great Burgundy vineyards such as Aloxe Corton, Ladoix-Serrigny, and the prestigious Corton-Charlemagne and Corton.

Vergelesses is a “lieu-dit” (favoured plot of vineyard) just south of the village of Pernand.  The village lies about 8km/5 miles north of Beaune.

Red: to the eye, Pernand-Vergelesses is an intense ruby colour with bluish highlights, or an intense crimson. In the early stages the nose is of strawberry, raspberry, and violet. When older, it evolves into underbrush and spices. The mouth is unaggressive but muscular with well-melted tannins.
Meaty and robust, its fleshy constitution has all the harmony one could wish for.

White: this wine is white gold or pale yellow turning darker gold with age. It boasts aromas of white flowers, (may, acacia) at first; later, notes of amber, honey and spices. On the palate it is mineral, harmonious and easy to like. [www.bourgogne-wines.com]
