Between Vaison la Romaine and Orange, the village of Rasteau is the starting point for many paths and trails beloved of hikers and cyclists. Côtes du Rhône
The wines of the Côtes du Rhône are typically rich spicy reds. Rasteau is one of a small number of Côtes du Rhône villages acknowledged to produce better quality wines, which comes from their position on the hillsides on the edge of the Rhône valley, and Rasteau has recently been elevated to a Cru – so the botttles will be AOP Rasteau. Here Grenache is the predominant grape variety. Some rosé and white Côtes du Rhône are also produced.
