Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest Grands Crus of Bordeaux. The vineyard dates back to 1252 – and an early proprietor became Pope in 1305 under the name of Clement V. This is where the Château inherited its name from and its wine became an icon.
The Chateau itself dates back to the 16th century and is luxuriously decorated with 19th Century furniture yet with modern amenities.The Chateau is one of a select group of vineyards owned and run by Bernard Magrez including Chateau Fombrauge in Saint Emilion.
Bed and Breakfast is offered in one of the Prestige rooms or one of the Suites and includes access to a fine terrace and garden, wine tastings etc. The chateau has some impressive wine cellars for storing and maturing the wine in oak caks.
Thought by some to produce one of the finest clarets in Pessac-Léognan(Graves) home to the famous Chateau Haut-Brion. This is a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes.
Here wines can cost over £100 a bottle, yet you can stay at the Chateau B&B.
