On the road to Saint-Julien -Beychevelle, a stone’s throw from its church, the impressive quadrangular tower of Château La Tour Carnet rises in the axis of a monumental gate. If the thick walls could talk, they would tell us all the past stories of this authentic castle.
This is one of Médoc’s oldest estates, owned by a major mover in Bordeaux wine – Bernard Magrez. This former medieval fortress is located in Saint-Laurent-de-Médoc and offers 2 medieval-style suites with views of the vineyards and the chateau’s gardens. Four-poster beds and ensuite bathrooms.

The B&B is about 30 miles/50 km north of Bordeaux.

Château La Tour Carnet

The Chateau’s wine is a Grand Cru Classé Haut-Médoc – a full-bodied rather tannic red made from a blend of  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small percentage of Petit Verdot which needs ageing at least 5 years. The Medoc is the peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde River which is home to many of the most prestigious Bordeaux Chateaux. Follow the Medoc Wine route (Route des Chateaux) The Medoc lies on  the 45th parallel, with both micro-properties and vast wine estates. The temperate oceanic climate here encourages vine growth.
