Part of, adjacent to, and managed by Chateau Haut-Bailly, Chateau Le Pape is located in the commune of Léognan (33 Gironde, Nouvelle Aquitaine). It was created in the 18th century by Pierre Bobineau, a master sailmaker in Bordeaux. He devoted his life to this estate, buying plot after plot of prime vineyard land with gravel soil and building the château circa 1805.

The gardens of Château Le Pape, designed by landscape artist Camille Muller, offer a serene setting, a source of relaxation and inspiration.

Visitors are invited to rest, relax and unwind on the shaded terrace or in the heated outdoor swimming pool overlooking the vines, but also to explore and learn about this historic region and its wines. Cycle through an expanse of vines and ancient woodland, or visit Chateau Haut-Bailly’s cellars and winery to discover the art of fine winemaking.

The Chateau offers 5 comfortable B&B rooms sleeping up to 8 people with an outdoor pool (in season), a terrace and free wifi.. The Chateau is surrounded by a 9-hectare vineyard. Guests can also enjoy a visit to Chateau Haut-Bailly’s cellars and taste the Chef’s cuisine at Chateau Haut-Bailly’s Private Table.

This Grand Vin de Bordeaux. has a high proportion of Merlot grapes, which explains Le Pape’s fresh expressiveness, indulgent smoothness and charm. This is on the best terroir of the Graves region which produces excellent Grand Grands Crus Classés. Typical of this area, the wines of the Château Le Pape balance strength and elegance and age well.
