At Blaye (33 Gironde, Nouvelle Aquitaine) there is a UNESCO listed 17th century Citadelle built by Vauban which also houses a hotel within the ramparts – Logis Hotel de la Citadelle.

In April there is a wine festival within the walls of the Citadelle where local winemakers (Cotes de Bordeaux) offer tastings of their wines.
The hotel offers 21 comfortable rooms, private parking and a swimming pool,. And there is also a lovely terrace, a bar and a panoramic restaurant overlooking the Gironde estuary.
The hotel features freshly renovated modern rooms, a pool and a gourmet restaurant and views over the sumptuous landscapes of the Gironde This is the largest estuary in Europe. Free wifi and just a few yards from the town centre and ferry.(Blaye <> Lamarque)
Although not in a vineyard, there are plenty to visit in and around Blaye and Bourg. Just opposite the Citadelle on cours Vauban is the local wine syndicate’s shop and tasting room La Maison du Vin de Blaye.
