In SouthWest France in the heart of the Côtes de Duras vineyards (47 Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle Aquitaine) is a vineyard gite sleeping up to 6 people: Domaine de Dame Bertrande
The cottage backs onto the chai (wine store) and looks out over a small quiet valley where some of the best parcels of vines grow. It is a magical place, and very tranquil, the nearest visible neighbours being at least two kilometres away. With 3 bedrooms, bathroom, well-equipped kitchen and a terrace surrounded by vines.
There is a large dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting room with stairs leading to the three bedrooms on the upper floor.
The vineyard is one of the oldest in the region, albeit with modern ideas and techniques. The vineyard has enjoyed organic status since 2014.
The popular village of Duras is worth visiting with its Chateau, whilst Bergerac, St Emilion and Bordeaux are within reach. In Duras there is a Maison des Vignerons where you can taste, buy and learn about these under-rated wines. There is also a good hotel/restaurant in the Hostellerie des Ducs where the food has been very good on numerous occasions.
