Saint-Estèphe is one of the four major wine-growing appellations of the Médoc, and the furthest north. The grapes used are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carménère, Côt and Petit Verdot. The wines of Saint-Estèphe are considered to have a finer acidity, tannic structure and colour than other Médoc wines. The wine ages well and the fruit characteristics become more intense, rounded and elegant, and when mature this wine acquires stronger fruit flavours and becomes more rounded and elegant.
