Le Montrachet – Burgundy Village Hotel

The name Montrachet evokes for many the finest (and most expensive) white Burgundy, yet the village of Montrachet is a quiet, modest, working country village, albeit having a stylish hotel –  Le Montrachet.

Montrachet

Montrachet is a Grand Cru vineyard for white wine from Chardonnay grapes in the Côte de Beaune. It sits across the border between the two communes of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet and produces what many consider to be the finest dry white wine in the world! It is surrounded by four other Grand Cru vineyards all having “Montrachet” as part of their names. Montrachet itself is generally considered superior to its four Grand Cru neighbours, as reflected in its higher price. Puligny-Montrachet is just 12km from the city of Beaune (21 Cõte d’Or, BFC) and close to the vineyards of the Côte d’Or.
