Near Gaillac  at Castelnau de Montmiral (81 Tarn, Occitanie) is a Gaillac B&B at Chateau de ­Mayragues – a 12th Century medieval castle with a Bio-dynamic vineyard!

The chateau was painstakingly restored by ­owners Scotsman Alan Geddes and his French wife Laurence and developed the vineyard.

The chateau has a half-timbered open-air walkway running around the top floor. parquet floors and high ceilings make for an airy and spacious feel . The location is quiet but the hosts are very welcoming. En-suite bathrooms and free wifi!

Gaillac is one of the lesser-known wines of the South West and is notable for its distinctive local grape varieties such as Braucol and Mauzac.The Chateau produces Gaillac wines –  a medium/sweet white Gaillac DouxGaillac reds and a sparkling white Gaillac Brut.  Biodynamic wines are made by using biodynamic methods both in growing the grapes and during their vinification into wine. . Biodynamic .wine production uses organic farming methods  while also employing soil supplements prepared according to the formulas of  Rudolf Steiner,  and following a planting calendar that depends upon astronomical calculations and having respect for the soil  as “a living and receptive organism. – see Gaillac Wines We would recommend the wines of Domaine de Labarthe at Castanet.
