Cotes de Bourg

Chateau wine bottle

This area, where vines have been cultivated since Roman times, covers thousands of acres of vineyards spread over 15 towns. Its hilly morphology leads it to often be called “Suisse Girondine” (a local Switzerland) : three ranges of hills oriented towards the Southwest with steep and well-drained soils succeed one another, such that the vines can bathe in sunshine, yet are well sheltered from the northerly wind and benefit from a climate tempered by the moderating influence of the estuary of the Gironde..

The Côtes de Bourg AOC wines here are made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes producing good reds and some rosé at attractive prices.
